Human Autonomy in it all: Isn’t it that we humans, are less autonomous (freely choosing) than we would like to believe?
We as individuals today are beholden to our past (early development) and the cultures we have to sustain in (work, home, present living family, peers, etc). We are less rational than we would like to believe. Also of course, my being a hypnotist, I've known that adult behavior is in most cases resistant to change (unless there are significant behavioral triggers to reset a human). In many ingrained areas, emotional pressures are more likely to succeed than rational appeals. Education is unlikely to change fixed behavior like cigarette smoking, over eating, insecurity, edge walking curiosity, recognition of things, loyalty, and on, etc. An individual cannot be separated in his/her interests from the culture that cradled him/her and the society that sustains him/her. There is no autonomous (self-sustaining) individual today. Press the individual rights to the neglect of society, and you will end up destroying both. Many in our society believe we are truly freestanding individuals for whom privacy and autonomy are sacred virtues, independent of our communities, with almost unbridled authority over our own actions and some even demonstrate this with a feeling of no responsibility for its consequences? But, are we fooling ourselves? Are we a society of rights, without duties nor obligations, of authority without responsibility in our ecosystem? Only in human creatures is the self-defined not merely by distinguishing it from others but relating it to at least some other. Our very "humanness" is a phenomenon of engagement and attachments. We survive in a network of relationships with other human beings, other species of this planet, and the nurturing from the overall system (what we live in). Each knot of individuality is bound to the next, creating the social fabric in which our very person-hood has true existence. Isolating an individual is an illusion. If we unravel the social contacts the knots disappear.
We are at this time experimenting with new technologies going beyond the thought control of the norm, the Church and other social orders that were much more constraining on our respect for ‘the garden’, which led mankind into further discovery of new 'space' (especially this very cyberspace) to even manipulate the human thinking process, ideas, to building new tools towards quantum dots to manipulation of the cellular structure, run to beat death, and genetically alter food enhancing behavioral abnormalities. Is this the tip of the iceberg of our paradigm shift of mind, matter, and space? Now we branch ourselves out to dance upon photons.. Still.... only revealing mere babes in the woods? Still thinking we really autonomous?
Are we so busy to not really recognize that there are other forms of consciousness working along side of us? Maybe even working to interfere with our falling prey to our own by-products?
Today's Gen Y'rs are conditioned to desire instant gratification? Will they produce much faster than most from the later generations (will our space be filled with more by product debris)? Our future generation may be stepping right into a new dynamic Worlds (space), through our Earthly domains, and on through our own invented virtual spaces.
How will they recognize the planet and the larger systems of systems out there?
In Silicon Valley, we have folk that have totally locked themselves into an Ouroboros effect with the very nature of our technological by-products built with
obsolescence factoring within. Has Bigelow and Alexander hit upon a paradox? They have been traveling all over to nail down the many glimpses we get toward recognition that we, humans, are not alone as part of planetary consciousness. Are they recognizing other ecosystem ingenious interlinked consciousness working along side of us, and even interfering with us to ensure ecosystem sustainability? Also, what about what we are recognizing with our new technologies 'out there' which appears to have birthing chambers of stars, and canals? Are we a threat to this other consciousness? A threat to sustainability?
Overriding Nature: So today, we are over riding nature and allowing those who have stepped in with some type of seal of authority & and title of elitism to direct and exploit it all (to continue to overwrite nature via by-products of media, biotech, cognitive tools, cloning, cybernetics etc. affecting our thoughts, bodies, agriculture, environmental conditions - must I say more) and sell it back to us as something better - all built with obsolescence! Yes, the obsolescence process to keep the progress of national and international economies moving by developing more by-products and taking advantage of our collective short term memory We forget that by adding these by products, by passing nature that we are taking a risk to the overall system's health and sustainability. Folks, this is it... We have no founding, nor proof that we can sustain on any other planet, or outer space system yet.
Today with all the pleasure driven media in promoting consumerism and virtual world products, it will take an act of a World Wide event to sheppard in any paradigm shift towards ecological wisdom . I do surmise that this economic collapse of 2009 is a signal (definitely a shift) on curbing partial human consumption of by products, There are indications that some people today are stopping and recognizing that renewing, upgrading, etc. technology built with obsolescence is just too costly for them, not only monetarily, but environmentally as well.

As your mind drifts off to quietly dream, ever wondered what stream you’ve taken?
What kind of scenario or what type of scheme, imprints the impression once you’ve awaken?
Where do you go in your river of thought, when those very moments surely take you away?
Are they rehearsals of Life’s role you capture, sought; and choose to manifest in your waking day?
You talk of beginnings and ends to a universe, behold; While a million of others are being born.
You study the stars and heaven’s far edges, so cold. Yet, your inner knowing tells how your theories are torn
I’m listening beyond your witty disguise, especially when I look into your searching eyes.
I sense your hopes and hungered dreams, all wrapped in the World Random’s tattered seams.
Yes, all revealing are your perceptions reflecting bright; and, yes I do find them an intriguing sight.
